The first bioenergy farms were opened in the Ternopil Oblast, which help territorial communities use local raw materials and specially grown biomass to generate heat and electricity. This was stated by the head of the department of the Institute of bioenergy crops and sugar beet Mikhail Gumentik.
According to Mikhail, energy is a prototype of a farm. Its difference is that such an economy will be aimed at growing appropriate energy crops.
He is confident that farms of this type will develop. And similar attempts already exist not only in the Ternopil region, but also in the Vinnitsa and Kharkov regions.
“To start this business, of course, we must pay attention not only to cultivation, but also to the use of the facility. If today we have a small school of 2-3 thousand square meters - for such an area we would need 10-20 hectares of energy crops. During the year, it is such a complete cycle of cultivation and use, ”said Gumentik.
According to him, today the most practical to use are tree crops such as willow and poplar. Energy farms are small private farms that combine into bioenergy enterprises.
They also introduce environmentally friendly technologies, integrate the so-called biopreserves into the existing farming system - the use of economic waste in agriculture and animal husbandry for their further utilization, processing as energy and other types of renewable raw materials.
