At the end of 2018, Russian grain producers are breaking their own record set a year earlier: since January of this year, they have managed to collect more than forty-six million tons of grain. In 2017, the figures were almost 42% lower.
According to specialists from the Federal Statistics Service, the lion's share of the total crop consists of wheat and meslin (a mix of rye and wheat). Their part in the total mass of the crop amounted to about 37 million tons. Despite the fact that a year earlier the yield of wheat and meslin was half that. “This year we have increased the fertile qualities of corn and barley (up to 4.2 million tons and 4.7 million tons, respectively),” Russian farmers say. “And the shipment of wheat flour and flour mixture from rye and millet amounted to more than 202 thousand tons.”
