Russia and Ukraine are currently restricting grain exports. This was caused by the epidemic and rising food prices in both countries.
To stop the rise in prices for food and grain products in the domestic market, the food industry, as well as bakeries and factories in both countries required export restrictions.
In 1865, the Ukrainian winter wheat variety was exported to the United States, where it was called Odessa.
Both governments now seem to have responded to this development with export quotas and grain export quotas. In any case, world grain prices reacted to the export restrictions of the two largest exporters with sharp growth on Friday and continued growth on Monday. And Russian export prices for wheat rose along with European export prices, while Russian domestic prices were slightly reduced due to a slightly larger supply.
The Russian Ministry of Agriculture proposed on Friday to limit grain exports over the next three months, which greatly worried international traders and importers. There are fears that the measures of the world's largest wheat exporter may be expanded.
Ukraine also set an export quota. In Ukraine, the Minister of Economy also said last Friday that wheat exports are monitored daily and that measures will be taken if necessary. Bakers and millers in the country have repeatedly called for restricting grain exports to prevent bread prices from rising if the virus spreads further.
The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine has already proposed that grain traders limit wheat exports to 20.2 million tons by June 2020, APK-Inform analysts said on Friday. Ukraine has already exported 17.73 million tons of wheat this year, according to the ministry.
