According to data for 2018, the number of poultry in the Chernivtsi region increased by 398.5 thousand, which is 12.7% more than in 2017. In the cultivation of turkeys and the production of their meat, the region takes 1st place in Ukraine.
It was in Bukovina that the first enterprise for growing turkeys was opened in Ukraine. The First Food Group poultry farm was commissioned in the village of Mamaevtsi, Kitsmansky district, Chernivtsi region. To date, 7 companies practice turkey breeding in the region.
Chernivtsi enterprises specializing in the cultivation of turkeys give a good result in the production of turkey meat. But in all-Ukrainian statistics, this is not noticeable, since it goes to the total number of poultry meat in the country.
In the Chernivtsi region there is another unusual production - trout cultivation, says the representative of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration Lyudmila Fedirchik. As for the production of pigs and cattle, the results here are not so good.
During 2018, the number of livestock in the region decreased. Moreover, in cattle the situation is even worse than in pig farming. To successfully grow cattle, you need to own a feed base and land for it, and the leading agricultural holdings are not interested in raising cows, explains Bohdan Boychuk, deputy director of the agricultural development department of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration.
