The other day, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, as part of a working meeting, discussed with the head of the republican administration of Dagestan, Vladimir Vasiliev, the development of the region’s agro-industrial complex in the near future.
Minister Dmitry Patrushev proposed making priority the implementation of current tasks and solving acute problems in such areas of the agro-industrial complex of Dagestan, such as sheep breeding, land reclamation, seed growing and selection.
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture also emphasized that it is necessary to significantly increase the volume of agricultural production in the region as soon as possible.
At the same time, Patrushev praised the leadership of Dagestan and all those involved in the agricultural work of the republic for their high performance in various sectors of the agro-industrial complex.
Especially - in livestock, in the framework of which the region over the past year showed a growth rate of production by 2.1%. Today, I am sure, Patrushev, Dagestan should develop a high-quality mutton export program.
The minister also recalled that today Dagestan provides its domestic market with dairy products and potatoes, and the production of fruit and vegetables in the region is two times higher than the needs of the residents of the republic.
