Work on rejuvenation of hazelnut bushes and harvesting of shoots for the spring-summer period has begun on plantations of the Vesyolye Bokovenki forest center, the director of the center, Galina Podtykannaya, said.

Hazelnuts - the same hazel, but cultivated. She has long been bred in other countries. Now it has become popular also in Ukraine. Also grow hazelnuts in the Odessa region, in Volyn, in the Rivne region.

Plantations planted by scientists in the Dolinsky district remain a valuable gene pool of the steppe zone. This allows you to increase the number of processes laid on rooting.

When propagating hazelnuts by division, varietal characters are fully preserved. The process is time-consuming, but also productive. Hazelnut plantations are placed by scientists of UkrNIIILHA them. G. N. Vysotsky in the Dolinsky district, remain a valuable gene pool in the steppe part of Ukraine, which allows to increase the volume of laying sites for rooting. Although the plant is unpretentious, hazelnuts can please a harvest of tasty and nutritious nuts only after 4-5 years. Its flowers are very attractive for bees, which in the end will produce very tasty honey. According to experts, profits from the hazelnut garden can be made already after 2 years from the start of boat-making.

Demand for hazelnuts is growing every year both on the external and domestic markets of Ukraine. The fruits are used in the food industry: in the production of chocolate and sweets. And oil - for the production of perfumes, vitamins and pharmaceuticals. The purchase price varies depending on a number of factors, but does not fall below 2.5 euros per kilogram of unpeeled walnuts. Thus, the demand for planting material is also increasing. Every year, more than 1.5 thousand tons of hazelnuts are sold abroad, most of them of Turkish or Georgian origin. But Ukraine, developing this profitable business, may soon also be among the leaders in the export of this healthy nut.
