The Cabinet of Ministers ceased to control the situation in the vegetable market, therefore, spontaneous self-regulation is observed there, the head of the Union of Ukrainian Peasantry Ivan Tomich is sure.
In his opinion, those price spikes that can be seen today by the cost of vegetables of the “borsch” set reflect the real situation.
Ivan Tomich says that last year the harvest of some vegetables, such as onions and cabbage, was small, the sown area was cut and there was a shortage of labor. Workers who could be employed in Ukraine work on European farms. Positive changes in vegetable prices can be expected only in the fall.On the other hand, there is good news. So, this year, agrarians planted plantings of vegetables and set aside sown areas for crops 2 times more than last year.
Ivan Tomich predicts that in autumn the pricing policy will be better, as vegetables will become cheaper. Tomich refrained from more accurate forecasts, because it is still difficult to say what the crop will be like. According to him, the government has long turned a blind eye to the prices of the vegetable market, so there is a spontaneous self-regulation.If they plant something or sow too much, they even throw it away, but sow a little - prices become sky-high. Ivan Tomich said that in the near future the situation will not change.
