The Nicholson family running the Cannon Hall Farm in Barnsley had hoped for ten years that one of their cows would eventually give birth to a white bull, an unusual color for the animal.
The born Bull Baby was named Roger, in honor of the farmer Roger, attracting visitors. Robert Nicholson, the farm director, said: “My grandfather Charlie had a white bull named Sam - also known as the Fockerbie Ring Leader - and he was a laureate at agricultural shows.
He was a real handsome man, and we were so proud of him that we named one of our restaurants in his honor. We always dreamed of having another white bull, and did everything to make this happen. At first, we could not believe it, when the cow went into labor, it was always our dream to just see a white bull ”.Unfortunately, complications occurred during the birth of the small white bull, and he dislocated his wrist. And, therefore, Donaldson's veterinarians were forced to put on a special device on his leg until the calf recovered.
However, Roger is recovering quickly and is already showing the first signs that he will soon become another champion. Farmers are hoping to take him to the Great Yorkshire Show to compete.
