The Serbian branch of the Dutch nursery Verbeka ordered Renet Simirenko seedlings in Ukraine.
This was told in his column by the director of the farm "Nursery Novosad" Sergei Novosad.
Direct speech: “I received a request from the Serbian branch of the Dutch kennel Verbeka for the supply of a consignment of Renet Simirenko seedlings to Serbia. They saw and tried our Simirenko apples, heard legends about them.
The holders of this variety gave me the answer that these seedlings can grow and provide the relevant documents. But the vaccination period has passed, ”the director of the nursery specified.
According to him, in the European Union on December 14, new rules for the import of seedlings from all countries begin to apply. They practically close the borders for seedlings from other countries.
Longevity apple tree grows in the USA. She was planted in 1647 and she still bears fruit.
Serbia is not a member of the EU, but can rely heavily on that market. Therefore, Sergey Novosad plans to remind the Serbian partners about the order the other day, and ask if they have abandoned their previous intentions.
For information, the variety Renet Simirenko has an interesting history. It spread throughout Ukraine and southern Russia from the Platonov farm, which is near the town of Mliev, Cherkasy region. In the possession of P.F. Simirenko no one knew where this variety came from and whether it was the result of a random game of nature or whether it came from the West, where it was safely forgotten.

- More than 1,000 varieties are currently grown in the Kentville Biodiversity Apple Orchard.
- Employees of the Institute of Horticulture of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine have bred apple varieties that are highly resistant to powdery mildew and scab.
- Heavy rains, hail and a noticeable decrease in the average daily air temperature in the central and western regions of Ukraine may negatively affect the apple crop this year.
