On the territory of Poland, more than three dozen foci of pigs affected by African plague were recorded. This time, the victims of the insidious virus were the livestock of the Węgorzew County, which is located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.
It is known that the number of local pigs before the outbreaks exceeded two and a half thousand individuals.
As soon as the first case of an outbreak of African swine fever was recorded on Polish agribusinesses, fifty-five thousand four hundred pigs were at risk. All of them were subject to the destruction procedure.
Meanwhile, the fifth outbreak of ASF swine disease has been recorded in Bulgaria. A fresh outbreak is registered in the village of Bulgarian-Slivovo, which is located near the town of Svishtov on the banks of the Danube.
It is known that before the outbreak, seventeen thousand pigs were kept on local farms. However, as a result of the plague attack, local farmers had to say goodbye to their wards. In total, at least one hundred thousand pigs have been slaughtered in Bulgaria over the past two weeks.
The authorities in Poland and Bulgaria are seriously concerned that the virus could spread. For example, Bulgarian analysts have already calculated that the losses from a possible ASF attack could amount to about two billion leva, which equals one billion one hundred and thirty million US dollars.
