The dairy giant Müller Milk & Ingredients, the UK’s largest milk supplier and distributor of the Müller UK & Ireland group of companies, said it could not rule out the closure of one of its production sites in an attempt to save £ 100 million.
The company begins a 45-day consultation process to assess the current and future needs for using the capacity of its network of six dairy plants. The six dairy plants in question are Bellshill in Scotland, Manchester, Foston, Droitwich, Severnside and Bridgewater.
In a statement, Müller Milk & Ingredients said that, at this stage, it “cannot rule out any necessary actions, including closing the production site, if necessary to bring the production facilities in line with current and future customer requirements.”In addition, the dairy giant announced plans to enter into a logistics partnership with a subsidiary of the Müller Group Culina Group, which will take over the daily management control of MMI Distribution from June 1 of this year.
Müller Milk & Ingredients Executive Director Patrick Müller said: “The distribution partnership with the Culina Group, a subsidiary of the Müller Group, will unite the two major logistics networks in the UK, which will enable us to continue to build on our reputation for excellent customer service at minimal cost.”
