This week was marked by unpleasant news for the Kaliningrad region - corpses of wild and domestic animals infected with African swine fever were found in Chernyakhovsk, Gusevsk and Slavsk regions of the region.
The infection was confirmed by the laboratory at the "Federal Center for Animal Health", which is led by Rosselkhoznadzor.

“The bodies were found in the fields and estuary of the Pregol River,” the Rosselkhoznadzor reports.
Tissue samples of animals found were sent for additional testing. Researchers have to identify the type of virus and its agent for sensitivity. Monitoring of the studies will be carried out in accordance with the established action plan to prevent the introduction of African swine fever into the territory of the Russian Federation and its spread in the country.
