On May 11-12 this year, in the village of Gorinchevo, Khustsky District, Transcarpathian Region, in the tract “On the Current”, the gastronomic festival “Brynza Khustshchina” was held, as reported by Alexander Koval, an expert on tourism development in the region. During the festival, a beauty contest among sheep was held.
Khust district is famous for the largest number of sheep farmers who own the most numerous herds of sheep.
In support of the sheep husbandry industry and to promote the Association of Sheep Breeders of the District in the village of Gorinchevo, the Brynza Khustshchina festival was held. The festival was organized with the support of the tour complex "Paradise" and Selishchensky cheese factory.
The profession of the sheep farmer is gradually disappearing; it needs support and development. With the help of the festival, the organizers hope to make growing sheep more popular.
During 2 days of the festival, masters of their craft held many tastings, cheese performances, master classes for children and adults. Those who wish could also visit the lecture hall on issues of agriculture, tourism and the environment.Especially spectacular were the contests in which the sheep participated: a beauty contest and the first race among sheep. Breeders presented at the festival competitions more than 1 thousand sheep.
