Analysts of the world food market note that Georgia has significantly reduced the export of fruits and vegetables in the last six months.
In particular, based on information released by representatives of the National Service of Georgian Statistics, in the first half of this year, the volume of external shipments of fruits and nuts in cash amounted to about twenty-nine million two hundred thousand US dollars.
In particular, today Georgia is actively exporting such commodity items as hazelnuts (in monetary terms, the turnover is thirteen million two hundred thousand dollars), as well as apples (a little more than four million dollars), tangerines (two million dollars), bananas (three and a half million dollars) and pistachios (one million three hundred thousand dollars).
It would seem that the figures are impressive, but the total export turnover is inferior to last year by twenty two and a half percent.
As for the export potential of Georgian vegetables, in this case, the rate of external shipments for the first half of 2019 decreased by two and a half percent.
The basis of vegetable exports is represented by Georgian tomatoes (one and a half billion dollars), followed by potatoes (eight hundred thousand dollars per six months) and cucumbers (seven hundred thousand dollars). The total share of vegetable exports in the Georgian turnover is eight million one hundred thousand US dollars.
