The Public Council of the State Food and Beverage Service, together with relevant organizations, are working on amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Veterinary Medicine”.

Representatives of the “Association of Pig Breeders of Ukraine” described how work is ongoing on new legislative standards. It is assumed that the updated law will contain provisions on private veterinary practice and new approaches and methods of treating animals.

Today, only in Ukraine laboratory tests of the health of each pig are carried out when moving from one farm to another. In the whole civilized world, it works differently. The epizootic status of the economy is monitored by a special supervisory authority, which determines and controls it, including through laboratory tests.

At the same time, veterinary medicine is not monopolized by the state, as there are many private veterinarians, said Oksana Yurchenko, president of the Ukrainian Pig Breeders Association. Ukrainian pig farmers fully support the introduction of amendments to the law and believe that veterinary medicine is developing in the right direction.

Veterinary of Ukraine is moving towards the optimization of veterinary control and supervision. The current work on the draft law is a chance to come to an agreement with government bodies in the branch of veterinary medicine and bring concepts to life, summarizes Oksana Yurchenko.
