Farmers from the village of Stary Poritsk in Volyn are engaged in the manufacture of organic dairy products: yogurts, cheeses, sour cream, kefir, butter. These products can be bought in supermarkets, in particular, in "Silpo" under the brand name "Old Poritsk".
Currently, the number of cattle on the farm totals 720 individuals, of which 300-320 are engaged in milk production. To adhere to standards for the manufacture of organic products, cows are not tied and kept in boxes or on a deep litter. Milking occurs non-contact in the milking parlor. This allows you to get extra class milk.
Since animals do not receive chemical additives with food, milk yield is not great. One cow produces about 17 liters of milk per day, according to the head of the family enterprise, Alexander Obshtyr. In addition to dairy products, farmers plan to produce meat, for which 100 pigs are already being raised.
Alexander Obshtyr calls his business a little unusual, because Ukrainians now consume very few organic dairy products. And the number of cattle in the country is decreasing.
The farm rents about 1,000 land shares, on which it grows crops for sale in EU countries. They make up 2/3 of the total sown area of the campaign. The rest of the land is occupied by fodder plants.
Currently, the company cannot process all milk received and partially sells it to other companies, says Alexander Obshtyr.
